Applied Behavior Analysis at Eastern University

Students have a few options for studying applied behavior analysis at Eastern University that include a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis Certification or a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Applied Behavior Analysis. The Master of Arts program is available to students who already have a bachelor’s degree, and the certificate is offered to students who already have a graduate degree.

The programs in applied behavior analysis are offered by The College of Health and Sciences, and students can earn their graduate degree online or on campus or earn their certificate online. Students who choose the Master of Arts program and want to study on campus will take most of their classes in the evening, as well as some classes in asynchronous online classrooms.

The university expects that students will spend three years earning their degree if they enroll in full-time study or four years if they enroll in part-time study. Terms begin in January and August, and students who are alumni of the university and have earned a bachelor’s or associate degree from Eastern University may qualify for a 20 percent tuition discount.

Not only does the curriculum meet the standards for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Examination, but it also meets the educational requirements for students who want to become Licensed Professional Counselors. Some of the classes students will take in the program include Social & Cultural Foundations of Counseling Practice, Personality Dynamics & Psychosocial Assessment, and Psychopathology & Diagnosis.

Students must complete 60 credits in courses related to psychology with 18 of those credits directly related to the concentration in applied behavior analysis. Meanwhile, students in the post-graduate certificate program will complete 21 credits in a program that may be completed in as little as one year. All coursework for the certificate is offered online.

Some of the courses students will take include Behavior Measurement & Treatment Evaluation, Behavior Therapy in Community Setting, and Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. To qualify for the certificate program, students must have a graduate degree in education, behavior analysis, psychology, or a related field.

About Eastern University

Eastern University is located in St. Davids, Pennsylvania, and the school has been in operation since 1925. Once named Division of Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, the institution is affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA. The school’s original purpose was to provide theologically conservative instruction to students who were members of the American Baptist Church, but it would transform into a four-year university with majors outside theology and religion.

The official colors of the university are maroon and white, and the sports teams participate in NCAA Division III games in the MAC Freedom Conference. Some of the sports played at the university include soccer, volleyball, field hockey, tennis, and softball. Around 3,330 students attend the university, which has a main campus that covers 114 acres. The university’s mascot is the Eagle.

Eastern University Accreditation Details

Eastern University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which is the accreditation agency for schools in Pennsylvania and nearby states. The university is also affiliated with the Council for Christian Churches and Universities and also participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement program for distance education learners. In addition, the university is accredited by a variety of organizations that approve programs in specific academic areas.

Some of those affiliations include those from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Additional accreditations come from the Association of Theological Schools in the U.S. and Canada, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, and the Council on Social Work Education for the bachelor’s degree program.

Eastern University Application Requirements

Prospective students who want to attend Eastern University can apply via the online application or a hard copy application that is mailed directly to the university. Additional required materials include official high school transcripts and an academic reference. Students can also send results of their SAT or ACT if they want to qualify for some scholarships at the university. Some majors also require submission of standardized test results.

Students may also answer an optional essay question that requires the student to read the school’s mission statement and create an essay based on what they read. Students who want to apply successfully should have an SAT score of at least 1000 or an ACT score of at least 20. Applicants should also have a rank in the top half of their graduating class, as well as have strong letters of reference.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for a semester of study at Eastern University is $16,652 for undergraduate students. Part-time students will pay $730 per credit hour. Auditing a class is $365 per credit hour, and summer classes taken online are $195 per credit hour. Students may also pay additional fees like a student services fee of $275 and course fees varying between $180 and $375 per course. Students who live on campus will pay between $3,068 and $8,615 per semester for a room and $2,700 for a meal plan.

For graduate study, the university charges between $583 and $1,010 per credit hour with the cost based on the program a student chooses. Graduate students may also pay some program fees like a $178 program fee each semester for degrees like the Master of Arts in Counseling or the Master of Science in Psychology.

Students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if they want to qualify for student loans for their tuition at Eastern University. Student loans are administered by the Financial Aid Office, and students are encouraged to submit their applications early to secure enough money for college. Students may qualify for Federal Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, or Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loans that they will need to pay back after they graduate from college.

Students may also qualify for financial aid that they don’t need to pay back that may include Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Federal Pell Grants, or Federal TEACH Grants. Students may also receive institutional grants and scholarships based on the strength of their application for admission or financial need. For example, students may apply for the Esperanza College Grant that will cover more than half of the student’s tuition at Eastern University.
