Endicott College is a private, coeducational college residing in Beverly, Massachusetts. It is located 20 miles north of Boston and it sits on about 235 acres. It is career-focused institution that features professional work experiences and required internships in majority of its programs. It was the first institution in the country to require all students to complete internships. All freshman and sophomore students are required to complete a 120-internship every year. Junior and senior students are also required to complete a semester-long internship. The curricula are competency-based and enable students to gain exposure to their field of study at the beginning of the program. The college is committed to experiential learning that combines theory and hands-on, career-related experiences. The college is also dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded academic experience and there are a variety of student clubs and organizations. The student to faculty ratio is 14 to one. The average class size is about 17 students. Dr. Eleanor Tupper and her husband Reverend Dr. George O. Bierkoe founded Endicott College in 1939 as an institution for women. It was established based on the notion that postsecondary education should blend theory with practice. Its first graduating class was made up of 20 students in 1941. In 1944, the college gained approval to grant Associate in Science and Associate in Arts degrees. In 1952, Endicott gained accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The college attained four-year status in 1988 and the first baccalaureate class graduated in 1990. In 1994, the first coeducational class began. Endicott introduced its first graduate programs in 1996. In 2012, Endicott College started offering doctoral programs. Today, Endicott is home to more than 5,000 students, including about 3,000 traditional undergraduates and 2,000 graduate, doctoral, and accelerated undergraduate programs through Van Loan School. The U.S. News and World Report ranks Endicott College number 34 in its 2018 Edition Regional Universities North.

Applied Behavior Analysis Program at Endicott College

The Van Loan School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Endicott College offers a Master of Education in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis. The program enables students to construct a solid understanding of autism spectrum disorders and the comprehensive principles and practices of applied behavior analysis. Students learn about modern strategies to enhance student independence and success. A total of 39 credit hours are required to complete the program and the curriculum features a blend of autism and applied behavior analysis courses. The required courses include introduction to autism spectrum disorders, conceptual issues in applied behavioral analysis, developing individualized goals for learners with autism, basic principles of applied behavior analysis, understanding and remediating social and play skill deficits in learners with autism, behavioral assessment, measurement and experimental evaluation of behavioral interventions, ethical issues in behavior analysis, effective collaboration across disciplines, and behavior change procedures and system supports. Students must also pass a comprehensive examination and complete an intensive practicum component. Graduates of the program will demonstrate application of evaluation and behavior change methods involved in teaching and treating those with autism. They will show the acquirement of the knowledge, skills, and understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis. Also, students will show an understanding of the learning, behavioral, social, and communication traits of those with autism and possess the skills to create effective individualized curricula and classroom management. Graduates of the Master of Education in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis from Endicott College are also prepared to take the national examination governed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
