Prospective students of the University of Nebraska who want to advance their knowledge of applied behavior analysis have three options in the form of a graduate certificate, a master of arts program, or a doctoral program. The Master of Arts in Psychology with a Concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis is offered in cooperation with the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Students may also earn a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Behavior or an Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate. Students can qualify to become Board Certified in Behavior Analysis when they complete courses approved by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB).
The BACB offers four different types of certification options including one for high school graduates, another for bachelor’s degree holders, a third for graduate degree holders, and a final certification for those with doctoral degrees. Students who choose to enroll in the MA in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis will gain the necessary credits in the program to earn Provisional Licensure as a Mental Health Practitioner. After students complete a further 3,000 supervised hours, students may seek full licensure as a Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska. Students must complete 36 credits to earn their degree in areas like developmental psychology, research designs, and advanced statistics.

Students who already have a graduate degree in psychology may want to investigate the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate, which requires that students complete at least 12 credit hours in ABA classes and six credit hours for their practicum experience. Classes required in the certificate program include Behavior Analysis & Intervention, Psychotherapeutic Interventions, and Ethics & Law for Psychological Applied Behavior Analysis. Students must earn a “B” in all classes to earn their certificate, as well as create a portfolio with details of a sample project created during the practicum.
Students who wish to enroll in a doctoral program at the University of Nebraska will choose the Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Behavior. Current research projects at the university include those in comparative cognition, executive function, learning & memory, drug abuse, and animal communication. One of the interesting facets of the Ph.D. program is that students earn their Master of Arts degree while enrolled as Ph.D. students. Most students accepted into the program will have a bachelor’s degree, as well as course experience in research methods and data analysis. University of Nebraska Application Requirements
First-year applicants to the University of Nebraska must submit transcripts, standardized test scores, and an application fee. The university also requires a personal statement. First-year students should have a score of at least 20 on the ACT or a score of at least 1030 on the SAT. Students can also rank in the top half of their high school class to be considered for admission. The university also requires that students complete a series of recommended college preparatory classes while in high school that include four units of math, four units of English, and three units of social sciences. To gain admission as a graduate student, applicants must complete the official application, have a GPA in undergraduate school of at least 3.0, and have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. The university also requires graduate applicants to take the GRE, and some students may benefit from taking the subject GRE.

Undergraduate tuition for residents of Nebraska is $245 per credit hour, and the university estimates the total cost of admission for the year to reach $20,676 for residents when costs for tuition, fees, housing, and a meal plan are included. Undergraduate tuition for non-residents is $771.50 per credit hour, and the university estimates that students will pay a total of $36,471 when all costs are included. Costs for online tuition differs for each program since each college within the university creates its own tuition schedule for their programs. Tuition for graduate programs at the University of Nebraska also varies and is based on the program in which a student wants to enroll. For example, resident tuition for on-campus programs offered by the College of Business are $400 per credit, and non-resident tuition is $1,143.75 per credit.
